Ocean temperatures are warming and with them the likelihood of a wetter and warmer normal season ahead, and a possible El Nino by winter, although accuracy of model outlooks at this time of year is lower than at other times. The University of Melbourne publication ‘Appetite for change’ identifies the impacts of global warming on key farming regions and household food in Australia. There is increasing interest in food security in a changing climate to judge by the number of reports appearing on this topic.
